Google Webmaster tools are fun. I just found out that most people find my site when searching for "sugokunai means" So I might as well give them what they're looking for and tell you what sugokunai means.

sugokunai is a negative version of the Japanese word Sugoi.
Sugoi is an adjective used to describe something that is perhaps unexpected or impressive. It is sometimes translated as amazing, awesome or terrible because its meaning does not always imply that what is being described is good. You could have a sugoi Typhoon which would be a large and scary Typhoon.

Here is the formal English definition:
凄い [すごい: SUGOI] (adj) terrible, dreadful, terrific, amazing, great, wonderful, to a great extent.

To negate an adjective like sugoi in Japanese you change the 'i' into a 'ku' and then you tag on the word 'nai' which means not. So sugokunai means not sugoi or not amazing, great or terrible.

The title of my blog is Nothing Amazing in English. But, underneath that I have written: 凄いことなんかない which is romanized as SUGOI KOTO NANKA NAI which translates into Not like something amazing which is my rough translation of Nothing Amazing.
